So through some rigorous Google-fu, I discovered the last Madou Discstation game, which was only ever released by Compile Korea.
Which means that I CAN’T READ WORTH A DAMN OF THIS GAME AT ALL.
So, what have I found out about the game without the ability to read Korean Moonrunes? Well, from what I understand from the visuals (which you may have a good guess by the title…)
It takes place not too long after The Final Test, and presumably SCHEZO IS STILL DEAAAAAAAAD (/batman) after the whole calamity from Final Test (Funfact: The subtitle actually translates to Nonsense/Confusing Final Exam).
What I noticed is that Madou Monogatari is written with slightly different Kanji than the one I’m used to seeing. I normally see [魔導物語], but look here at the title screen; the last two characters are different!
Obviously, being in Korea, the character casting is different. I’m not familiar at all with the Korean language and voice acting, so I’m not sure how to react. The actual dungeon crawling is surprisingly nicely made. You actually see yourself moving down a corridor. However, there is one thing that irks me. You would think that a game released after Tower of the Magician (The art is SUPERBLY well done in that one, and I’m honestly not being biased because Schezo’s the protagonist.), the art style would kick it up a notch.
It’s still just as MonogaQUALITY as Final Exam! It’s slightly better in some regards, but still off-model as hell.
Just…what the bloody hell!?
